REI Awards $5K Grant

Friends of Alafia, Inc. is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant from REI Co-op, to be used toward the cost of building a mountain bike skills area.

A skills area is a place where riders can improve their skills (balance, riding off drops, and jumping). A good skills area will use a lot of wood for construction of features, and with today’s lumber prices, this grant will help us to get off to a good start.

FoA will also benefit from a month-long “round-up” campaign where REI will ask customers if they want to round-up their purchase to the next dollar at their new store opening in Tampa on Friday, 6 March 2021, with the round-up difference going to FoA.

Note:  Our Skills Area plan is with the Division of Recreation and Parks in Tallahassee.  We cannot begin work on this until the plan is approved.
