As the official Citizen's Support Organization (CSO) for ARSP, Friends of Alafia aids D.E.P. staff in achieving goals set forth in the park's 10-year Unit Management Plan. Critical infrastructure improvements through new construction and maintenance are funded in part by corporate contributions made by sponsors such as Mosaic.

Trailhead Parking Lot Initiative

Parking lot investments are a primary objective that provide overall improvements for quality, capacity, and reduced environmental footprint. Our organization's first step in this process was to obtain the required engineering planning and permitting required to effectively redesign the day use (trailhead) parking lot. Friends of Alafia recently applied for and was awarded a $41,000 grant from the Mosaic Company. This valuable contribution to our organization funded initial project expense and allows us to take the next step in coordinating final construction funding from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
